Abstract
The inclusion of local anesthetic (LA) in a gel of poly (lactic-co-glycol) acid (PEG/PLA) sustained release formulation (SRF) allow an prolonged duration of LA from only a single injection (1). The prolonged LA release, during polymer degradation, could ensure a long term control of postoperative acute pain. The main objective of this study was to assess the pharmacodynamic profile of the new formulation of bupivacaïne or ropivacaïne with SRF compared to 0.25% bupivacaïne (Bupi) during sciatic nerve blocks in rat.
