Abstract
In the present study, we investigated the effects of 12 weeks resistance exercise on muscle strength, breaking force and serum ALP level in orchiectomized(OCX) rats. Thirty male SpragueÐDawley rats(30 weeks) were used as subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups; control group(CG, n=10), OCX control rats group(OCXC, n=10) and OCXC rats+resistance exercise group(OCXC+RE, n=10). Progressive resistance training using a ladder and tail weights was performed for 12 weeks (3 days/week). After the experiment for 12 weeks, grip strength was significantly higher in OCXC+RE group than OCXC group(p<0.05). Femur breaking force was significantly higher in OCXC+RE group than OCXC group(p<0.05). Serum ALP level was significantly increased in OCXC+RE group compared with OCXC group(p<0.05). In conclusion, theses results suggest that regular resistance exercise training can improve muscle strength, breaking force and markers of bone formation in orchiectomized rats.
