Ce jeu de 20 filaments est basé sur le jeu de monofilaments de Wemmes Weinstein, mais présente une nouvelle caractéristique: le filament est retractable pour protéger celui-ci et faciliter le transport, même dans la poche de l'opérateur.
| Le jeu de monofilaments de Semmes Weinstein fournit une échelle logarithmique approchée de forces effectives, et une échelle linéaire d'intensité perceptive. Ils sont utilisés de longue date pour les tests cliniques et les diagnostics pathologiques d'hyper- ou hypoanesthésie. Des sous-groupes du jeu de 20 filaments distinguent les pathologies des différentes parties du corps (pied, main, lèvre, joue, etc...). Le principe de fonctionnement demeure inchangé: lorsque l'extrémité du filament de longueur et de diamètre donnés est appliquée contre la peau à angle droit, la force d'application augmente tant que le chercheur poursuit le mouvement de pression, jusqu'à ce que le filament ne fléchisse. Après la flexion du filament, la poursuite du mouvement de pression augmente la flexion mais pas la force d'application. Ce principe permet au chercheur d'appliquer sur la surface de la peau, à la main, une force reproductible dans une large gamme de tolérance. | ![]() |

Les rongeurs présentent un réflexe de retrait lorsque leur patte est touchée de manière inattendue. L'évaluateur sensoriel Touch Test™ peut être utilisé sur les surfaces plantaires du rat et de la souris, l'animal indiquant le degré de sensibilité par le retrait de sa patte. Filaments de rechange disponibles.
Attention : à cause des propriétés physiques du matériau constituant le filament, il est conseillé de travailler à une température comprise entre 18 et 24°C et un hygrométrie comprise entre 60 et 80%, pour une plus grande reproductibilité des résultats.
