Abstract
Post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) accounts for 12% of all osteoarthritis cases. Lesions of the medial meniscus are a risk factor for the development of PTOA and also increase the susceptibility to neuropathic pain. While PTOA pain can stem from instability-induced joint degeneration, we hypothesise that a proportion of the pain is due to nerve damage. This study aimed to characterise PTOA pain from multiple angles in the medial meniscus transection (MMT) model of joint instability.
