Abstract
We aimed to characterize the effect of rapid weight loss in severely obese patients, who underwent bariatric surgery or medical weight management, on changes in knee cartilage matrix composition measured at baseline and after 1-year. We hypothesize that cartilage matrix composition, represented by water and collagen contents, improves in severely obese persons with higher weight loss. In this group, we have not found change in cartilage morphology at 1-year.
